HEARTWOOD IN THE HILLS
A school for the arts in the heart of the country celebrating the artist in every person since 1982
Heartwood in the Hills is pleased to announce a special Spring Program in the Performing Arts. We invite youth, ages ten and up, adults and seniors to join us as we prepare for an exciting new spring show. Students who enroll in this program will be members of Heartwood’s Performing Arts Theatre Company. You are invited to join us for this adventure in creating Theatre Magic.
Students in the Performing Arts Theatre Company will study acting, voice, movement, pantomime, masks, stagecraft and music in preparation for public performances at the end of the Spring Program.
There will be two levels of class work in this program.Beginning Theatre Company Members (Level 1) will study at Heartwood
two times a week plus two week-end rehearsals each month. Classes required are: Introduction to Performance Dance and The Theatre Class.
Advanced Dance and Theatre Company Members (Level 2) will study at Heartwood three times a week plus two week-end rehearsals each month. Classes required are Dance Technique, Ballet and The Theatre Class.
Enrollment is open for The Theatre Class for those who chose not to perform. However, in order to participate in The Theatre Class students must also take a second class choosing from Introduction to Performance Dance, Movement for Health and Centering, Dance Technique or Ballet, depending on age and dance experience. CLASS SCHEDULE MARCH 5- JUNE 1, 2012
MONDAY
INTRODUCTION TO PERFORMANCE DANCE - Ages 10 and up. Studies in balance, coordination, rhythm, and movement including elements of ballet and modern dance to prepare the student for work on the stage. Instructor Gina Burns. 4:45 to 6:15 p.m. Fee - $60.00
*DANCE TECHNIQUE - Teens, adults and seniors. Studies in Modern, Caribbean, Ballet, International Folk Dance. Previous dance experience required. Instructor Jude Binder. 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. Fee - $70.00
TUESDAY
CREATIVE ARTS FOR CHILDREN - Ages 5 and up. Singing, dancing, art projects, reading, creative dramatics, masks, International Folk Dance, Conservation Education. Instructor Jude Binder. 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. Fee - $40.00 plus $10.00 materials fee.
*BALLET - Teens, adults and seniors. Previous ballet study required. Instructor Jude Binder, 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. Fee - $70.00
WEDNESDAY
ARTWORK FOR KIDS - Ages 8 and up. Lessons in symmetry, color, design, Conservation Education.. Instructor Jude Binder.4:45 to 5:45 p.m. Fee - $40.00 plus $10.00 materials fee.
MOVEMENT FOR HEALTH AND CENTERING - Teens, adults and seniors. Learn to move comfortably. Previous dance experience not required. Instructor Jude Binder. 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. Fee - $70.00
THURSDAY
MORNING MOVEMENT FOR HEALTH AND CENTERING - Seniors and adults. Learn to move comfortably. Instructor Jude Binder. 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fee - $70.00
THE THEATRE CLASS - Teens, adults and seniors. Studies in acting, voice, movement, pantomime, masks, stagecraft and music. Instructor
Jude Binder. 5 :00 to 7:00 p.m. Fee - $84.00.
FRIDAY
MASKMAKING - Teens, adults and seniors. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult helper. Students will be guided through the
process of creating tarlatan masks as seen in Heartwood productions. Instructor Jude Binder. Class length varies. 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Fee - $75.00 plus $15.00 materials fee.
*Indicates class is open to non-Company members with previous dance experience
ENROLLMENT INFORMATION
Fees shown are for the full 12 weeks. Single class fees available: $4.00 childrens classes; 47.00 adult classes.
Payment by single class is not available for Performing Arts Theatre Company classes.
In addition to the class fee there is a $10.00 enrollment fee per student for the Program.

Full and partial scholarships are available based upon need.
