Heartwood Activities
| In April 2003
Heartwood had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with Selina
Midkiff and the Appalachian Children's Choir at the "Festival of
Voices," an afternoon concert funded by Lights On! The
Appalachian Children's Choir sang while Dance Team A members presented
"La Lluvia," a dance choreographed by Heartwood's Artistic
Director Jude Binder. "La Lluvia" is an Ecuadorian rain
chant arranged by Canadian composer Stephen Hatfield. The young
dancers devoted numerous hours, including many Sunday afternoons, in
preparation for the evening. The performance was so well received
that the Dance Team was invited to give an encore presentation in May
for elementary school children in Calhoun County. |
